Popular sites include Friendship Beach at Chalong Bay, Nai Yang Beach, Rawai Beach and Layan Bay. Experienced kitesurfers will have a greater variety of locations to choose from in addition to the sites above, such as Nathon, Hua Thanon and Koh Lon Island.

A helmet, lifejacket and surf boots are essential safety equipment required for kitesurfing. If you’re taking lessons at kitesurfing schools, all equipment are usually supplied, with the exception of surf boots. This is so as the boots may contain contagious fungi that are hard to remove, so kitesurfers are advised to purchase their own. It is recommended that kitesurfers don strap-on floatable sunglasses and apply water-resistant sunscreen.

Kite School Phuket, Nai Yang & Chalong Bay

Lessons at Kite School Phuket are conducted at Nai Yang Beach during the months of May to October, and at Chalong Bay from November to April. Kickstart your kitesurfing journey with an orientation lesson, conducted to help assess if students are keen to follow through with the remaining sessions. Students learn to handle the kite, and no board is involved in the class. Safety drills, such as what steps you should take if a line breaks, as well as handling the kite in a fixed position are components of the second class. Students will get a feel of the board in the third lesson.

Basic safety equipment, such as a helmet are provided here. A pair of surf boots will cost around 1,300 baht at the store. Full insurance coverage is included in the costs of the lessons.
