A 5-day Itinerary For Your Phuket Getaway

Get away from it all by embarking on a tropical getaway! A place like Phuket – home to sparkling ocean waters, paradisiacal coasts, cultural landmarks and nature attractions – is a promising destination for a memorable holiday. Can’t wait to frolic along the beach, discover Phuket’s nature and cultural attractions, explore the local shopping scene and try out a rejuvenating Thai massage? There’s no need to fuss about planning – we’ve got it all covered, so all you’ll need to do is follow the 5-day itinerary below:

Day 1: Sun, sand and sea

What better way to start your tropical vacation than with plenty of sun, sand and sea? Kata Yai and Kata Noi Beach both offer a swathe of powdery white sand and turquoise waters, so whichever coast you pick it’ll be the perfect spot to roll out your beach mat. If you’re one who can’t resist riding the waves check out the surf shops in the area – it won’t be hard for you to get your hands on the equipment that you need to catch a wave. You’ll find long tail boat vendors along the coast too, so hop on the boat for a ride if you’re in the mood for cruising the seas.

When the munchies hit grabbing a tasty bite will be a breezy affair, for you’ll easily find a dining establishment with views out to the sea. Experience the best of beachfront dining at a place like Boathouse Wine & Grill or Mom Tri’s Kitchen, where finely appointed interiors, delectable dishes and ocean views combine to create an unforgettable experience. Make sure you’re there in the early hours of the evening – just in time to catch the mesmerising views as the sun takes a dip into the ocean.

Day 2: Cultural exploration

The iconic Big Buddha is a must-see attraction in Phuket. The statue, standing at a height of 45 metres, cuts a striking figure atop the Nakkerd Hills. You’ll easily spot it from afar. Once you’ve entered the compounds a sense of peacefulness prevails. Soothing dharma music play softly in the background, blending in harmoniously with the chiming bells and the sound of flags flapping in the breeze.

Your next destination for the day is Wat Chalong – the largest temple in Phuket. Located about a 20-minute drive away, the temple lies to the left of Chao Fah Nok road if you travel down from the Central Festival Mall. Those driving in from Chalong Circle will find the temple located on their right.

The colourful exteriors – featuring hues of white, amber and gold – is an arresting sight. Take a stroll through the Grand Pagoda, where you’ll find artifacts like a splinter of Lord Buddha’s bone, Buddha images and wall paintings depicting the life story of Buddha. Ascend the stairs to arrive at the top of this 60-metre structure to get a bird’s eye view over the grounds of the temple.

Day 3: Shops ‘n spas

It’s vacation time, so spare no expenses when it comes to indulging in self care. If you’ve got knots and tension in your body it may be a good idea to let a Thai massage therapist work their magic on your problem areas. Oasis Sky Breeze Spa is the place to go to enjoy pampering spa treatments in a setting with scenic coastal views and plenty of cool ocean breezes. Or call in a massage therapist if you prefer having a private treatment in the comforts of your villa.

Now that you’re all relaxed it’s time to hit the shops and walking streets of Phuket. A visit to a night market is the best way to discover the local shopping scene. Loud and lively, you’ll navigate rows of stalls selling a wide variety of goods – from electronics and handmade souvenirs to home accessories and clothing. Plentiful food stalls are located in the night markets, so take your pick from the array of street eats available. If you’ve got an adventurous palate now’s a good time to try an exotic dish or two. Deep-fried insects, anyone?

Day 4: Discover the outdoors VS. Go free and easy

Depending on your mood you could spend the day relaxing in the cosy living spaces of your villa, or exploring the great outdoors of the island.

Indoor relaxation doesn’t have to be a boring affair. In between leisurely brunches, afternoon teas and evening cocktails, fill out your time with invigorating yoga sessions, a zen-inducing meditation class or a culinary lesson. The outdoorsy ones in your travelling party may enjoy making a day trip out to the picturesque Phang Nga Bay.

Day 5: Rest and relax

Round out your tropical retreat on a relaxing note. If you’ve got enough time before your flight carve out a couple of hours for a decadent brunch meal. You could always stay in and savour the delicious fare that the in-house chef has prepared, but if you prefer dining out restaurants like Mom Tri’s Kitchen, RE KÁ TA and Boathouse Wine & Grill offer tasty brunch sets and panoramic sea views.
