Hey, guess what? Thailand is making some big moves to welcome more visitors and digital nomads with open arms! The Thai cabinet recently announced an exciting expansion of visa promotions to spice up tourism and remote work opportunities in the country.
Beginning June 1, the number of countries offering visa-free entry to Thailand will jump from 57 to a whopping 93. That means visitors can soak up the Thai sun for up to 60 days – that’s double the previous limit of 30 days!
Some top countries now included for visa-free stays are fan favourites like the U.S., UK, China, India, and even Albania. And that’s not all – visa-on-arrival is now open to 31 countries, including places like Armenia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, and more. If you want to see the full list, check here.
Thailand’s also got some exciting news for students and digital nomads too. Postgraduate students studying in Thai schools can now stay in Thailand for an extra year after graduating, allowing them time to go job hunting and find a suitable job in their field.
And for the digital nomads and freelancers out there, the new “Destination Thailand Visa” allows you to stay for up to five years, giving you plenty of time to immerse in Thai culture and truly live like a local. If you’ve always wanted to learn Muay Thai or learn the delicious secrets to Thai cooking, this new visa option is perfect for you. You can renew every 180 days for THB 10,000 while on this visa.
Retirees aged 50 or over also get a sweet deal with reduced health insurance requirements, now at THB 440,000, down from THB 3 million. Plus, applying for e-visas will get easier with more locations on the list, doubling from 47 to 94 starting in September.
Thailand is on a roll, aiming to hit a record of 40 million foreign visitors this year, so pack your bags and get ready for a Thai adventure like never before!
