After dining at one of the most romantic restaurants in Phuket or tucking into a feast of Thai delicacies, round off your night by sipping cocktails at some of the best bars on the island:
Also known as Mr Pan’s Art Space, this isn’t your typical watering hole; quirky and colourful are words that best describe this unordinary venue. Sculptures, canvasses and ornaments fill up the interiors, lending an eclectic touch to the bar. Stop by for simple Thai fare during the day, and when dusk descends the place comes alive with live music, great vibes and an extensive selection of cocktails made by Mr Pan.
Location: Art Space Gallery and Music Bar, 7 Ketkwan Road, Kata Beach, Karon, p. +66 90 156 0677. Open 11am-1am daily.
You’ll feel right at home immediately at the unfussy and laidback Lom Nuea by The Beach Bar. The Library Phuket has an understated exterior, resembling a traditional library that is often vacant. However, located down an unassuming street, past an inconspicuous back door, lies a vibrant hidden gem.
Inside, The Library transforms into a lively late-night hotspot popular amongst local youth and expatriates alike. Bartenders here expertly craft superb cocktails with flair and finesse. Meanwhile, the DJ spins beats to which the mixologists show off their juggling talents behind the bar. It is a surprise oasis found amongst the anonymous outside, well worth venturing past the unassuming front to uncover.

The open-air setting, elevated hilltop location and serene vibes makes this a great hangout for a relaxed evening. Arrive in the early hours of the evening for sundowners and views out to Patong Beach, and stay on late into the night to take in vistas of the glittering city lights. Start off your evening on the right note by making a trip to the stylish and exclusive Baba Nest Rooftop. Wooden tables, plump cushions and beautiful lamps adorn the wooden deck of this rooftop bar. The decor and ambience is excellent, but these are not the main attractions here. Instead, guests will find themselves captivated by the bar’s gorgeous surroundings, and it will be a challenge to tear their eyes away from scenic panoramas of the Andaman Sea and coastlines of nearby islands.
A perfect evening is not complete without a scrumptious selection of food and drinks. At Baba Nest, guests can take their pick from a good variety of signature cocktails and light Japanese nibbles. A pretty Baba Daiquiri hits the sweet spot, while those who favour tangy flavours will enjoy the Sake Mojito.

If you are looking for a different bar experience in Phuket, it’s worth popping into this one. The first word that comes into mind when walking into Zimplex is ‘electrifying’, mostly from the retrowave lights and decor. The neon theme is also present in the shooters that the bartenders serve. It is a great show put on by them, from the preparation of the drinks all the way to the finished product. The menu constantly changes, so be sure to come back to this small, yet fascinating “mixology laboratory” every time you visit Phuket.
